Toronto’s Asian population is particularly vulnerable to problem gambling because few resources are offered in native languages and laws preventing sales of lottery tickets to minors are poorly enforced, says Toronto District School Trustee Soo Wong. In a 2004 report published by sociologists including University of Toronto professor Lorne Tepperman, members of Ontario’s Chinese community were found to have stronger inclinations toward problem gambling.
