In this newsbrief, it is reported that Mayor David Miller and and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty have quashed an idea to developing a casino in Toronto. After a brief  debate, a city executive committee killed a request to look into the request put forward by Councillor Cesar Palacio. Miller noted that the city has no power to set up its own gambling operation and, in any case, would receive a very small proportion of potential revenues.
