Professional tennis player Nikolay Davydenko is fielding questions in connection with a betting scandal surrounding a match he lost earlier this month, even as he continues to proclaim his innocence. Davydenko retired from a recent second-round match in Sopot, Poland with a foot injury, giving his opponent victory. Betfair, an Internet gambling company, refused to pay out on Davydenko’s defeat. Wagers totaling $7-million, 10 times normal for such a match, were placed on his opponent.
